Mother is, probably, one of those few words whose very mention inspires a flurry of emotions in the heart of even the cruelest person. The word Mother has stirred the imagination of people since time immemorial, resulting into a great outpouring of emotion, finding its way through poetry and literature. We all become poetic, in one way or the other, when it comes to describing or remembering our mom. A few poetic words, expressing our love and care, mean the world to her. Poems are, surely, the best way to express our feelings on the Mother's Day. Nothing can match the melody and fragrance of these poems on this beautiful occasion. We are putting up a few of these soul soothing Mother's day poems to help you in conveying your heart felt emotions to your dear mom. Happy Mother's day!
"I love you,"
- Carl Sandburg
"I love you,"
said a great mother.
"I love you for what you are
knowing so well what you are.
And I love you more yet, child,
deeper yet than ever, child,
for what you are going to be,
knowing so well you are going far,
knowing your great works are ahead,
ahead and beyond,
yonder and far over yet."
The family
- Mary Loberg
The family
is like a garden
with joy
for all to share,
With tender, growing blossoms
that thrive on love
and care,
And when
the flowers are gathered
for a very special day,
They make
a bright and beautiful
happiness bouquet.
Home
- Mary Catherine Shannon
I know a place that's paradise
For "gamesters" of all sorts-
For young and old competitors,
For in-and-outdoor sports.
The tournaments get under way
Each Saturday at dawn-
With board games on the carpet
And baseball on the lawn.
There's poker played for bottle caps
And football just for kicks,
Plus every other kind of thrill
From jacks to pick-up-sticks.
This living room Las Vegas,
This backyard Astrodome
Is always where the action is
And best of all-it's home!
Poetry By Mom
"I love you,"
- Carl Sandburg
I sit here quietly
Watching them while they sleep
I wonder
And my heart is torn
How my love for them
Grew so strong
That I feel breathless
It sometimes even hurts
Yet I am never tired
Of watching their little faces
As they sleep.
I can see
That they are running
In their dreams
Their legs move
Back and forth...
Are they on a beach?
Or in green grass fields?
So what if when I am tired
They ruin the room again
Are they not the reasons
Which makes me forget every pain
Oh Lord! Tell me
How possibly could I live?
Before I was a mother
I never knew this bliss.

As I look beyond the broad expanse,
I look for dreams of wonder.
I know if I look hard enough,
My dreams will take flight,
Like wings of white,
Upon the clouds of life.
My mind it opens to the magic true,
I see the beauty so near.
Sweeping me away upon it's wings,
Riding high and free,
Aloft I will be,
Swept away with feelings of glee.
I soar up high, and ne'er do land,
A wonderful sensation surrounds me.
Below me the earth continues on,
Not knowing I watch,
And viewing all,
I travel as far as the eye can see.
I can feel the wind upon my face,
Exhilaration fills my flight,
I fly with abandon like the eagle might.
Flying high and free,
For all to see,
Oh what a wonderful view in sight.
I think of life and all it holds,
I know these pleasures are real.
For when your heart is filled with love,
With the warmth of caring,
And the love of sharing,
You will feel the warmth never ending.
Embrace the feelings that cause you to fly,
And hold them close to your heart.
You can take many a trip on high,
Fly with abandon,
Your soul warm as the sun,
Exhilaration and joy will truly be won.
Treasure the special joys you find,
And hold them very close.
The world will become an oasis of pleasure.
Of realized dreams,
A diamond that gleams,
And a life that you will always treasure.
You MY FRIEND, are one of those treasures,
The joy you bring I can never measure.
You lift me higher than words can say.
You give me warmth,
You give me hope,
You help me to fly along life's way.
So on this day, as I soar so high,
Know that our friendship has caused me to fly.
You've lifted me up so high off the ground,
No greater magic can there be found.
You've given my soul a reason to sing,
To you, MY DEAR FRIEND, only good things I'll bring.
